Oasis Grower Options, a division of Smithers-Oasis, appointed Erin Yafuso, Ph.D. as Plant Scientist, efficient October 1, 2024. In her position as Plant Scientist with the division, Dr. Yafuso may have international obligations and report on to Dr. Rapaka

Dr. Yafuso’s work with Oasis Grower Options will contain all points of propagation, manufacturing and post-harvest high quality of floriculture and hydroponic meals crops grown below managed environmental circumstances. Particular emphasis will likely be given to specialty substrates for propagation, soilless cultivation and hydroponic manufacturing, in addition to the event of sustainable and biobased options to enhance progress and high quality of managed environmental agricultural crops. Along with conducting plant science experiments, Dr. Yafuso will collaborate intently with different crew members to efficiently develop and launch new merchandise.

Dr. Yafuso acquired her Ph.D. in Horticultural Sciences from the College of Florida, Gainesville after receiving her M.S. in Molecular Bioscience and Bioengineering and her B.S. in Plant and Environmental Biotechnology, each from the College of Hawaii, Manoa. Previous to becoming a member of Oasis Grower Options, Dr. Yafuso most not too long ago held a three-year postdoctoral analysis horticulturist place with the USDA ARS in Toledo, Ohio, the place her work targeted on nutrient optimization of strawberry mom plant and subsequent daughter crowns in managed environments for propagation.
